A Complete Computer In A Ball… [Future of Computing]

Again technology at its best. I have never seen such thing before. How about taking whole computer in your pocket all the time. This ball predicts the future of computing. You might have seen many things like this but the unique feature of this ball is that when it is close
d, no one can guess that whole computer is hidden inside this ball. When you will open it, you will find a complete set of display screen, virtual keyboard and a mouse.

This ball is known as E-Ball and its design is given by Apostol Tnokovski. He was trying to create the smallest PC in the world when he came across this idea.

It is shaped like a sphere because in Tnokovski’s opinion this is the best shape in nature and it draws everybody’s attention.

E-Ball will feature a dual core processor, 250-500GB HDD, 2GB of RAM, integrated graphic card and sound card, 2 x 50W speakers, HD-DVD recorder, wireless optical mouse and laser keyboard, LAN and WLAN card, modem, Web cam and integrated LCD projector.

Also, the E-Ball PC supports a paper holder and the paper sheet on the holder could act like a screen where you can watch movies or something. This concept PC will measure 160mm in diameter and it was designed for Microsoft Windows OS, sorry about the others. For the moment there is no word on pricing or when it’s going to be available, however, I am sure that everybody would like to see a small spherical PC like this one.

Historical development of medicine in islam

Historical Development of Islamic Medicine

Inspired by Allah’s guidance since coming to Earth, Man has arrived at various treatments, according to his intellectual and mental means, throughout the different civilizations. This was known as ‘Primitive Medicine’.

Ibn-Khaldoun (808 A.H.) once stated that primitive medicine was mostly dependent on defective experiments inherited from the leading figures in communities. Yet, such medicine was not based on any physical law.

Prophetic Medicine and Medical Development

Such had been the condition of medicine before Islam arrived. The Messenger of Allah (SAWS) urged Muslims to seek remedy, as Allah has created no disease without its treatment, except for one disease, namely senility.

The Messenger of Allah (SAWS) used honey, dates, natural herbs and various other things for medical treatment, which is known as the ‘Prophetic Medicine’. However, Muslims, although they were acquainted with the prophetic medicine, did not stop there. They realized in an early stage that secular sciences, including medicine, needed continuous studying and researching into other cultures. Muslim physicians knew all about Greek Medicine through the conquered countries. The Caliphs used to bring the Roman physicians whose medical works were translated into Arabic by Muslims.

During the era of the Umayyad Caliphate, Muslim physicians were the first to organize specialities; they were ophthalmologists, surgeons, , gynecologists, etc. This era was characterized by the construction of hospitals and by its effective, well-known Islamic physicians such as, Abul-Hakam ad-Damashkiy, a family dominating the medical profession, Tyazuoq who was close to al-Hajaj Ibn-Youssuf al-Thaqafiyy and Ahmad Ibn-Ibrahim who was Yazeed Ibn-Abdul- Malek, the Umayyad caliph’s special physician.

Cost of Living in Karachi ranked #132

Economist - Mar 12th 2009

The Economist in its latest issue published a report measuring the cost of living across various cities of the world, Karachi ranks 132 on its list. There are some list / rankings that you wish your city to be graded at a higher level but this is one list that I’d not mind being near the bottom.

Sharp exchange-rate movements since the autumn have affected the relative cost of living in the world’s main cities. The strengthening dollar has pushed American cities up in the rankings compiled by the Economist Intelligence Unit, a sister company of The Economist. Chicago now shares the ranking as the world’s 23rd most expensive city, up from 39th place in September 2008. Meanwhile, the plunging pound means that, for the first time since 2002, London is cheaper than New York. Asia is home both to the cheapest city in the survey, Karachi, as well as the priciest, Tokyo, which has grabbed the top spot from Oslo on the back of a stronger yen. Living in Tokyo is 52% more expensive than living in New York.

Happy to be a Karachitte ;

How Pepole Say "Sorry" ??

The way people apologize and their style of saying sorry depends a lot on their personality and zodiac traits. No wonder Leos embarrass you when they say sorry while Arians will actually annoy you with their apology..

Aries:
For starters, Arians think they are so sweet, they could not have possibly said or done things that need an apology. So in the unlikely possibility of them actually going down their knees to apologize, it will be a simple sorry. Nothing less, nothing more.

Taurus:
They are so scared to face others when they make a mistake that by the time they resurface to tender an apology, the damage is done. So Taurans end up making foes out of friends because of their laxity in apologizing.

Gemini:
Geminis think they are infallible and therefore will never really apologize for anything. But once they realize, they prefer to act as if nothing happened, and behave normally with people who have a problem rather than remind others of the incident by tendering an apology.

Cancer:
Cancerians will make you feel sorry for demanding one when they make a mistake. They are the legendary characters that burn hands and slash their fingers! in order to display the quantum of their repentance. Their repentance is dangerous.

Leo:
Leos are a delightful bunch even when they are trying to make up for their follies. They will go down their Knees, buy flowers, put up sorry posters.. Do everything colorful to flatter you and make up for their mistakes. In fact it's fun to induce them to make a mistake and let them apologize for it.

Virgo:
Virgos will first formally set aside a time and date and inform them what they want to tell you. Then they will mentally prepare themselves to talk out the same things. They will finally draft the script and read out whatever they want to. In short, even their heartfelt apologies sound like well-drafted scripts.

Libra:
They are very vocal once they realize their folly. They never ever hesitate to come clean and admit their mistakes. In fact, they will go out of their way to convince you about how genuinely sorry they are.

Scorpio:
Scorpios are formal and think that tendering an apology is more of a formality. So instead of just saying sorry, they will send a formal mail or send a card, whatever it takes to avoid direct confrontation.

Sagittarius:
Sagittarians don't believe in being sorry or apologizing. For them, it is human to error and therefore saying sorry is just redundant. Interestingly, even if others make mistakes, they are pretty cool and don't expect much from them.

Capricorn:
They can't take a simple sorry. They need reasons, explanations, written letters and the works to get elicit an 'Ok, you may go now' phrase. They are hard to please and even harder to appease.

Aquarius:
They are sweet, genuine and innovative when they think they are wrong and need to undo the damage. Aquarians are easy on their mistakes and don't take too much time to do their apologetic.

Pisces:
Pisceans don't easily give in because they believe that everything is about perspective. So if somebody thinks they made a mistake! , it's because they have a wonky perspective. Pisceans and apologies? No chance!

10. You get up in the morning and go on line before getting your coffee.

12 You're reading this and nodding and laughing.

    Science of Asleep

Hamara Karachi Festival: Workshop aims to boost youths’ confidence

KARACHI: A six-day long workshop is being held in connection with the Hamara Karachi Festival at the KMC Building. The aim of the workshop is to build the youths’ confidence, particularly the students at university level. The City Institute of Image Management organised the workshop.

Acting City Nazim Nasreen Jalil while addressing the participants on Monday said she was confident that the youths of the city have the potential to play a leading role in discovering new dimensions for creating a better society that will bring our country at par with the most civilised nations of the world.

Jalil further said leadership sprouts from a combination of one’s qualities and behaviour in life towards the people and society while leaders can be distinguished by the way they undertake responsibility.

The Hamara Karachi Festival is a platform for the youth that has provided tremendous opportunities for the students to study the attitudes and behaviour of people, she added.

Talking to Daily Times, City Council Mother and Child Health Chairwoman Dr Nikhat Shakeel Khan said that the purpose of conducting these workshops was to provide the youth, especially students, with direct access to practical learning of people’s behaviour so that they can develop potential to be leaders in their particular fields.

Cultured and disciplined attitude reflects the qualities of a leader and these are produced through a continuous learning process using direct learning methods. Leadership has been mistakenly limited to politics, which is not the true definition of the word, commented Khan.

It is pertinent to mention that around 1,300 students have been enrolled online while 240 students have been selected for the workshops with 40 students per workshop per day. Sindh Youth Affairs Minister Faisal Ali Sabzwari and Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro will patronise the remaining days of the workshops. All leading educational institutes of the city including University of Karachi, Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology, Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology, Dow University of Health Sciences, PAF-KIT, Muhammad Ali Jinnah University, Bahria University, DEWA University, Jamia Millia College, Government Commerce College and Saint Patrick’s College along with various others participated in the workshops.

Earlier, Jalil addressed the audience at the historically acclaimed act ‘Taleem-e-Balighan’, held under the Hamara Karachi Festival, which was staged at Jehangir Kothari Parade in Clifton on Sunday night.

In her address, Jalil said that only the nations who are aware of their national heritage can protect it and in this regard, the Hamara Karachi Festival has played a positive role. The festival has promoted cultural traditions and heritage and the festivities have attracted every ethnic and cultural entity towards the concept of reviving ancient trends in the city.

Jalil further said that the Hamara Karachi Festival has now become a landmark in the history of the city and has sent a message across the globe. Noted dramatist Khwaja Moeenuddin wrote ‘Taleem-e-Balighan’ in 1954 and it was first telecast on state television in 1971. The reproduction at Kothari was directed by Faysal Malik and will continue till March 6. Theatre actors including Faysal Malik, Shahzeb Waheed Khan, Hamid Malik, Asif Ali Maqsood, Khayyam, Naila Jaffery, Dilawar and Kameel performed in the act.

    Question from Pakistani Peoples

    Kansai International Airport Japan.‏

As the world's population increases at a more-than-healthy rate and the cost of travel decreases, the number of people looking to travel by air is understandably on the rise. With this growing demand comes the need for more airports as existing ones struggle to cope with the millions of passengers passing through on a daily basis.
So what happens when there's no suitable land to build a new major airport or locals protest the new construction without hesitation due to noise pollution or other environmental implications?
If you travel to Japan in the near future you may witness a solution to these problems, in the form of island airports. At present there are four such constructions in Japan (there are also examples in Hong Kong and Macau), each built on its own artificial island offshore and each backed by the community it serves. The first of these incredible engineering wonders to be built, and the first of its kind in the world, was Kansai International Airport in Osaka Bay. Just to build the 4-kilometre long island called for 21 million cubic metres of landfill plus the assistance of 80 ships, then there was the small matter of connecting the airport to the mainland by way of a 3-kilometre bridge. In total the project has so far cost around $20 billion but has already saved some expense by surviving both an earthquake and a typhoon in the last 15 years, in addition to being open 24 hours a day due to its location.
